There is currently pressing debate among the magic community as to whether or not Jace the MInd Sculptor should be banned in standard. Some are saying that there is no viable other strategy than the Jace decks (RUG, UW Cawblade) as the decks that won the top 8 of GP dallas were 4 RUG and 4 Cawblade decks. and in the top 16, 15 of them played 4 Jace the Mind Sculptor. The other one deck was a Boros deck.
On one hand, he is a very domineering card in the standard environment, but should he be banned? I was wondering what people in the store think?
I don't think so but i also dont know what people think about it. I may be biased but what i do know is that when I didnt own jaces, I complained about him. Then I played him and brainstormed for the first time and said to myself, "how can i get more of this card right now?"
Does his price weigh into the banning? Tell me what you guys think cuz I'm curious

Jace should be banned, plain and simple. I believe any deck that does not run him is tier 1.5 ar best.
I've done my best to compete at the standard level with non-Jace decks, but they just don't get there as consistently. CawGo are insanely difficult to beat.
I also think his price tag makes him prohibitive for most players to acquire and seriously compete.

I disagree Jace should not be banned... I think wizards made a mistake not to make a promo of him or something so his price could go down. And justin im sorry to say but our green white black deck competes with jace all day every day, so did ur vamps, so does valakut, so does mono red, so does WW quest all t1 decks who can beat jace... The reason I think he is played so much is because even though he is good, he is fun to play. There are so many combos with him and all the professional players see that as an advantage. More fun, more room for bad players to make errors. To make the right play and make a deck with him and counter spells is just fun for any good player, its a challenge which is why I think Caw-blade is so popular among pro players, a chance for a challenge.. Boros is just as good in my opinion, if more pro players played boros I bet Boros would win just as many big tournys as caw-blade. But it is not as fun. So i dont think Jace should be banned, it gives players like me a challenge to make new competitive decks

Let me know if you sell them, Aaren. I may be interested in at least one copy for my collection.
Then Anja and I can fight over him for our EDH decks :-P

After the new spoilers... I believe Stone Forge mystic has a greater chance of being banned then Jace

I really like the Praetors. I feel like Wizards created them specifically for EDH.
