Welcome to the paint and modeling board, as this is the first post I'd like to say that I have no particular point here other than to hear what others are doing with their models; As you may or may not know, Conflict GT is coming up in January which means some are scrambling to get their armies 100% painted and flocked.
My IG are done with a pretty simple scheme:
Blood Red, Boltgun Metal, and Devlan Mud wash (because even a 55 gallon drum of Devlan Mud isn't enough.) with a few extra colors, that being: anything plasma [Fiery Orange, Sunburst Yellow, Baal Red wash], the searchlights and any sort of cameras / optic equipment [yet again Fiery Orange, Sunburst Yellow, with DM wash] and their tiny tiny faces [Elf Flesh, Skull White for eyes and Ogryn Flesh was]
As for my bases, I've found the best glue for flocking has nothing what-so-ever to do with GW... it's Elmer's, and a little bit goes a long way, so when I flocked my guardsmen, I put a midsized dab down and spread it around with a brush then dipped it in sand I got in Wildwood, NJ, since A) I'm going for a desert theme B) it seems to glue solid faster than green GW flocking and C) the most important... it's free.99 provided you can get to Wildwood or any clean beach with fine sand. you'll notice I've only flocked the top of my bases and not the sides. I'm just imitating what I've seen in the IG codex. the color around the side is two coats of Bleached Bone to make sure it's nice and solid.
All this being said I hope I can finish amassing dudes and upkeeping them before the tournament hits, but this is by no reason to rush them and crap out on their paint jobs, so tell me /tg/ (4chan reference) what do you do with your models and is there any special ways you go about it?
