Is anyone interested in participating in a two-headed giant league.
We would organize after the New Year and play one night a week. Teams would be registered together and match up against another team for a single match (3 games). Based on records, standings would be generated and we could do some sort of playoff event at the end. Winner would get something cool to be determined.
I think its a fun format and would be happy to organize for the store if there are enough interested participants. I think we would need at least 5 teams to have a really good league.
I don't have all the league rules formulated, but here are some general guidelines I have come up with.
#1 Teams would be the same week after week, although registered teams can submit alternate player(s) should unforeseen circumstances prevent a player from participating during one week.
#2 Teams would submit decklists prior to the first week's match. Mainboard can't change at all during the season; however, you can modify sideboard cards week to week, if necessary. Sideboard would be the standard 15 cards. This is meant to create consistency for the teams and add an element of strategy when matching up against other teams.
#3 My initial thought is to play x weeks (x being the number of teams) and then having a playoff night where the top 3 teams face off. 1st place team would have a bye and play the winner of the 2nd and 3rd place match. That way, any of the top 3 teams could potentially win the league championship.
#4 There would be a nominal registration fee for each team to fund prize packages at the end of the season. I don't the matches would qualify as DCI sanctioned but I will check.
Anyway, like I said, I would be glad to organize and put together by-laws, track standing, and keep everything together. Please reply if you are interested. I'll probably feel out interest this Friday as well at the draft.
Thanks.
