Ok, so many of the regular players at the store are getting prepared for extended play as well as standard and this has piqued my interest in creating an extended deck to play with.
Based on some advice I got from some of you, this is the decklist I've come up with. I decided to go with an aggro-style Merfolk deck. I'm partial to tribal deck anyways. Please comment.
Creatures [22] 4 Caller of Gales 4 Silvergill Adept 4 Cursecatcher 2 Merfolk Sovereign 3 Merrow Reejerey 2 Sygg, River Guide 3 Wake Thrasher
Spells [14] 3 Cryptic Command 4 Path to Exile 4 Mana Leak 3 Summon the School
Lands [23] 2 Halimar Depths 13 Island 3 Seachrome Coast 2 Mutavault 4 Wanderwine Hub
I'm trying to keep this on something of a budget. The real money is Mutavault and Cryptic Command. Everything else is pretty reasonable. I think it has a decent balance of aggro, control, and combat tricks from the Merfolk. I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts.

Already making changes, adding 4 Coralhelm Commander and removing 1 Mana Leak, 2 Path to Exile and 1 Cryptic Command. I guess I want the mainboard to play more like straight aggro.
Blue aggro? What is the world coming to?

so far i like it. i think 4 mana leaks and 4 cryptics in every deck playing blue in extended. its just good enough a card to do that and you;ll find that agianst decks like faeries and 5 color control you'll wanna be aggro, while against tempered steel and jund you'll wanna be control. this deck is powerful because of versatility and it has the capability to fight against every deck in the format and do well. i really like the deck and it can defineatly win in a tournament.
