Hello Fantasy Games & Hobbies,
Starting on January 10th, 2012 Hobby Town in Nanuet will be hosting an open tournament for anyone interested in participating. I will post the rules below and you can either contact us on our forums or reply back in this thread if you are interested or have any questions. Thank you =)
Where: Hobby Town, Nanuet
Contact: Stu or Jaimar
Forums: www.deathskullsforum.com
Entry fee:$10, signup at counter
Prize: 1st = $30 & choice of 40k Battleforce, 2nd = $40 3rd = $30
Point Size: 1850
Start date: 1/10/12
End date: 3/6/12 or sooner
Rules
1. All lists must follow an approved Warhammer 40k Games Workshop Codex
2. All games will be played using Games Workshop 5th edition rules and must last no longer than 3 hours per match.
3. This is an expensive and time consuming hobby and real life should not stop you from being able to compete competitively. That is why this tournament does not require troops and/or vehicles to be painted only constructed in a basic capacity. In addition, What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) will not be strictly enforced and moderate amounts of proxying is allowed as long as it is appropriately written down beforehand and communicated with your opponent. Please see the proxying section below for further definitions.
4. Game type and deployment will be chosen at random by rolling a D6 or will be agreed upon before game by each opponent.
5. Each player may create two 1850 point lists for one army and will be able to choose which list to use before each game. Each players chosen list must be revealed to their opponent before first turn, deployment type and game type are chosen. These two lists are static and may not change for the duration of the tournament. Each player’s lists must be submitted to the tournament leader by the start of the tournament. These lists will then be posted on the forums for fact checking and consistency.
6. Each participant will play every other participant to ensure maximum fairness. For example if there are 10 participants each player will be playing 9 games.
7. Due to this amount of games and casual nature of this event the tournament will last 2 months from the start date. However this tournament could easily be completed in a month and if things finish more quickly then prizes will be handed out upon completion. There is ample time to finish games even if you are only playing on Tuesdays. Any games that are left un-played after the 2 months, and do not fall into the exception of the next section, will result in each opponent receiving 0 points.
8. Dates of play for games must be agreed upon beforehand and displayed on the forums or communicated to the tournament organizer in order to be valid. These games do not need to occur on Tuesday; however the results must be posted on the forums in order to be valid. If a participant is late by more than 30min to the agreed upon time without communicating with their partner (real emergencies excluded) they receive 0 points for that game and the person who has showed up will receive 3 points.
9. Any disagreement in ruling while in game that is not clearly defined in the rulebook must be resolved by a 3rd party or by rolling for a result. For example units in cover.
10. Entry fee must be submitted on or before January 10th to Jaimar or Stuart.
11. Any cheating will result in immediate disqualification and no refund of your entry fee. If you have questions consult the codex, a third party or the rulebook! Do not be afraid to ask your opponent to explain their special rules for their units/army and ask to see them in the codex!
Proxying
A player may make a maximum of 15 infantry sized base, and 3 monstrous creature sized base proxies per list. For example a player’s troop choice consists of a squad of 10 space marines with 9 bolters and 1 melta. The player may play these 9 marines (and any other basic marines) as models in any stage of development, as long as it is consistent, and then proxy a scout model as the melta. This proxy is allowed and will cost 1/15 of the allotted proxy to the player.
Any vehicles must be represented by an actual plastic model of the correct vehicle or a proxy with the exact length, width and height dimensions in order to maintain line of sight and correct distancing. Vehicle weapons do not need to be present however any vehicle weapons not present on the vehicle will still be measured from their correct spot and not the hull i.e. turrets and side sponsors.
Infantry models must be base mounted with approved GW or 3rd party bases and any unit with different wargear must be able to be identified by some means from the rest of the unit.
Borrowing models from other players and 3rd party models are accepted as long as they have a valid entry in the codex and are mounted on the appropriate base or in the case of vehicles are the appropriate dimensions.
Scoring
The tournament winners will be determined according to final point cost. Any ties will be determined in a single game elimination. The game result point costs are as follows:
Win = 3 Points
Draw = 2 Points
Loss = 1 Point
Questions
Before the tournament starts any questions can be addressed on the forums and will result in a polling question with the majority of votes determining the outcome. Questions can be posted up to three days before lists are due. Any questions after that date will be resolved on a case by case basis and will always be up for public view on the forums.
