When does the campaign start? Anything I should read as a primer before then? Hi SLCStephen, First session will be next Thursday 1/13/2011, starting around 6p with character creation and defining the campaign. I will actually be in the store tonight to play a 2000 point 40K battle against my friend Josh, and will be happy to chat in detail. As for pre-game reading: I recommend getting acquainted with the Dark Heresy core rulebook as far as learning the system (no worries, I will be starting off slow, and there is more role than roll in my games so learning the system will be pretty quick). I also have cheat sheets that I use for Rogue Trader that I will be bringing to the game as well. If you are looking for literature, then I would recommend any of the Eisenhorn or Ravenor books to get a feel for how an Inquisitorial team works.

Well, the Campaign will be on Thursdays, starting this Thursday. I was originally planning on being in the store on the 10th (today) but the store is closed, lol. Helps if I pay some attention to the outside world. Hope to see you on Thursday!

I believe so, I know of a few people who have mentioned it off the boards as well:) I believe that at present we have 6 players, which is really the sweet spot for table size, imho.

Reminder: Tonight is the night! I will be at the store around 6p (depending on traffic, I work in Paramus). I will bring blank character sheets and my books. My Laptop is currently malfunctioning, so I am reduced to my little E-Pad device (no laughing).
The things we will need to get done tonight: Determine the time period, scope, and direction of the campaign Compose the party Create the characters
If there is time, I will run a scenario to introduce the characters to their Inquisitor and each other, and hand out their first assignment.

No worries, man, it was an intro session that was kind of light with lots of info-dumps from the GM. The idea was to get the players a view on how I run the table so you can adapt your characters and style to take advantage of my somewhat daft nature, lol.
On a separate note: I hope Scott got home OK and is not still driving around the wilds of Suffern...

From the Journals of Josiah Marioc
023.647, M41
I am not certain what it was that I did to end up in this mess, but somehow I suspect that it must be Archivist Lenticulus' fault. I would have been quite content to live out my life ensconced deep in the Librarium aboard the Tisiphone, firing off memos instead of rounds from my autopistol, but instead I have been dispatched on some wild errand with a group of Inquisitor Terix' newest recruits.
When they entered my blessed Librarium, I knew immediately that this would not end well. In my case, it almost never does. The first, an obvious ne'er-do-well Hiver named Onan, seemed friendly and almost charming until I realized that the fellow was likely attempting to distract me so he could pinch the small silver stylus on my desk. The second, a trooper named Cromwell (whose nickname of Dakka would likely get him crucified by the Ordo Xenos were they to hear), seemed nice enough in a barely controlled violence sort of way. The last of the group was a rather frightening fop with heavy makeup named Paziel, whose inquisitive nature made me feel a bit like a field mouse chatting with an owl. For myself, I can only say that survival is its own virtue, and while others may consider bravery a better virtue, we will see who is standing at the graveside when its all over.
We discussed life on the world of Pisae, a thoroughly cold and miserable planet with almost nothing to recommend it, and the nature of the customs errors that were plaguing the port at Mistsha. I attempted to explain about the planetary capital of Paka being the seat of the local Baroness Estanzia von Tropp, who is a member of the board of directors of the powerful Planetform Corporation (one of the sector's Chartered Corporations), and her desire to marry into the Thoreson Clan of Thapsus, which control HSC, the Hephaiston Station Corporation. We determined not to spend any time in the bombed out ruins of Baker's Deep, and avoid outbreaks of the Snow Plague.
When informed that I would be accompanying the rest of this gathering on its trip to Pisae aboard the Imperial Navy fast packet Alacrity, I could hardly contain my terror. Me, out in the field? Where would I find any Librariums worth my time on Pisae?! How would I have time to file reports and paperwork if I was to be dodging bullets and running from cultists and witches? I suppose that my Lord Inquisitor knows what he is about... either that or he has decided that he no longer has a use for my services.
We transferred to the Alacrity, where we had dinner with the most generous and friendly captain of the ship. My colleagues suspect that he may be 'up to something', but Captain Walter Trumbull seemed perfectly pleasant to me. Onan said that the ratings aboard the ship told him that they were on light rations and operating on minimum crew because the Captain had convinved them that they could claim some great fortune if they could muster out early. Paziel, followed the Captain around for a bit, but ultimately found the Purser to be a bit more of a sinister figure. Cromwell helped me go over the paperwork for the mustering out of the Alacrity and its crew.
Just past the midpoint on our journey to Pisae, one of the governors on the Geller Fields ruptured, destroying compartment 5 and exposing everything aft of Frame 13 to the Immaterium. We frantically fled forward, dodging murderous servitors and crazed crewmen, and thanks to some quick thinking on Onan's part, we managed to get through the maddened mob outside the hatch to Frame 13 without a scratch.
Now what do we have to do? Guide a repair party back to the engineering spaces at Frame 20!

Totally missed last Thursday (it seems if I don't put it in my cal or get an email notification, I will forget just about any event). Is it still possible for me to jump in this Thursday? My email is slcStephen@gmail.com, if it's easier to communicate in that fashion.

If you want to arrange a time to meet up and put together a character, please let me know. I will be jumping into the action pretty quickly at the start of the next session. Thanks, Todd
