From the religious right to the criminal underground, the Lupus Cluster is home to many strange and interesting organizations. Few of these are countenanced by the Inquisition, and as such, membership in these groups may be problematic for Acolytes in active service. Still, sometimes it is possible to serve two masters.
Adepta Matres
This radical sect of cloistered nuns and priestesses of the Holy and Infinite Mind of the Empire teeters on the brink of heresy. These sisters believe that through calm introspection, fasting, prayer, meditation, and random acts of kindness they can become one with the indomitable will and awesome power of the God Emperor. Their peaceful and accepting ways are problematic, however, and if it were not for the fact that they allow sick, poor, and misshapen emigres from other worlds of the Lupus Cluster to gather there, it is likely that an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor or a high ranking Ecclesiarch would have long since declared an exterminatus and burned the world to a cinder. While the Adepta Matres fully control the Imperial World of Carthage X, their presence elsewhere is barely tolerated. Matre Superia Helena Campbell ensures, however, that Carthage will continue to welcome all of the Emperor's children, and that any violence meted out against the Matres will result in a great deal more pain and suffering than one would expect.
Cult of the Mater Mundi
A heretical cult with followers throughout the cluster, the Cult of the Mater Mundi is closely associated with the Adepta Matres. The Cult believes that the gestalt of all living Psykers forms a complement to the Emperor, and that when the Emperor is reborn as the Star Child, their consciousness will transcend with him to create the Mater Mundi, the soul of all souls, which will be the bride and concubine to the New Emperor. Most of these cultists are Psykers of varying power levels, and members of the Ordo Hereticus are always on the lookout for these heretics.
The Galfini Syndicate
While there are many criminal organizations in the Cluster, they are usually confined to one world or system. The Galfini Syndicate is the exception that proves the rule. The fingers of Ibrahim Galfini are spread throughout the Cluster, and there is nary an illegal deal made in a portside tavern or space station bar that does not have their stamp of approval on it. It is rumored that even some of the members of the Board of Directors of both Manpower and Bowex are members of this massive crime syndicate.
The Order
When the Great Crusade came to purge the heretics and reclaim the Lupus Cluster in the name of the Emperor, a number of priests and ministers of the Adeptus Terra came with it, hoping to spread the word of the God Emperor. Over time these shepherds of the faith found a new calling: eliminating the enemies of the Holy Father Church. The Order of the Pious and Just Brothers of the Sword of the Emperor, or simply the Order, was born. Members of the Order appear as regular members of the Clergy, but their martial and investigator training make them a force to be reckoned with. The members of the Order call themselves Confessors, and will often go out in the dead of night to extract confessions before assassinating their targets, pinning said confessions to the targets for the Adeptus Arbites and local Militias to find. While the Church does not condone these actions, neither does it too loudly condemn them or decry them, offering tacit approval to those who would root out heretics amongst the populace.
The Puglia Sinistra
Lord Sector Ferdinand Sanguarelli knows how to rule a sector: through fear and the threat of imminent violence. The Puglia Sinistra, or Left Fist, is an elite fighting force recruited from amongst the Sanguarelli's most loyal worlds. In addition to providing an elite bodyguard and assault team, members of the Puglia Sinistra also operate throughout the sector monitoring the members of the Sector Nobilis and the Planetary Defense Forces of the various worlds to ensure that the balance of power is maintained. While they have no official standing to challenge members of the Adeptus Terra, the Inquisition, or any of the other groups operating in the Cluster, their writ and sanction are sufficiently muddy that it is possible that they could get away with murder in the right circumstances. If evidence is to be believed, they may have done so already.
Vildix's Children
The Techpriest Vildix was considered a martyr on the world of Iol for many years, until the terrible fruits of his labors finally came to light. Vildix uncovered a great secret long harbored in the unknown heart of the Forges of Iol, a device from the Dark Age of Technology that would allow for more reliable communication between worlds. It was a simple pulse generator that would be able to send text through a series of coded bursts that could be instantaneously received on the other end of the transmission. Dubbed Warpcomms, a plan was put into place to test the devices on the worlds of Iol and Olisipio. When the first pair of his Warpcomms came online in 39,101, they made their first transmissions. What they received was far from what was sent, however, as daemons from the Warp attempted to use the devices to possess the techpriests using them. Luckily, the devices were destroyed before any creatures of the Warp were unleashed, however Vildix was immediately put to death as a heretech. Generations later, a group of younger Techpriests have sought ways to correct the problems with the original Warpcomm design, and find other ways of channeling the power of the Immaterium into useful and practical devices.

The Brotherhood of the Wolf
The Lupus Cluster has been known by many names throughout the centuries, but the one that has stuck with it since the time of its reconquest during the great Crusade was that of the Wolf Worlds. This region was given that nickname for several reasons, first and foremost because of the name of the cluster itself. Amongst the other reasons number the ferocity of the inhabitants, the lone-wolf mentality of the leadership, and the fact that the old symbol of the sector was that of a wolf howling in front of a sickly yellow moon. It is from this nickname that the local Convocation of the Inquisition took its name, calling themselves the Brotherhood of the Wolf.
As with every sector in the Empire of Man, the Lupus Cluster's Inquisitors generally operate alone, using the planet Zama in the southernmost area of Shannedam County as a base. Like Mavinav, Zama is a Inquisitorial Stronghold world, and its populace is there mainly to serve the needs of the Inquisitors in residence and to help train new generations of Acolytes.
The planet Zama is dominated by the stronghold at Katlan, just south of the Bay of Lies. The fortress-city extends for miles in all directions (including down into the black rock of the planet), and it is said that even orbital bombardment would not scratch the surface of this mighty redoubt. In addition, there is a university at the smaller city of Hate, located on the other side of the planet that is nearly as impenetrable, and a fortress prison at Fandering which is home to the largest Adeptus Arbites fort in the County (the facility at Roquefort in the Mastricht sector is actually the largest in the sector).
Mavinav, the other primary Inquisitorial world in the County mainly has a large Inquisition presence due to the massive amounts of warp-taint that has been found there. Massive electrical storms and lights in the sky demonstrate that weakness between Materium and Immaterium, and the Inquisition's Ordo Malleus maintains several small fortresses and caches of weapons on Mavinav in case the barrier grows weaker. It is rumored that in spite of this there are secret tribes of mutants in the deserts worshiping the dread Daemon Princes of Chaos.
The Ordo Xenos has been more active in the County lately than in the past. This may be the result of several Dark Eldar raids in Keserdal and Espirito Counties, but the Inquisitors themselves have been closed-mouthed about their actions.
There are several Cabals amongst the Brotherhood of the Wolf's Ordo Hereticus chambers that may be important. The three most powerful of these factions are:
The Conservers
The Conservers believe that the Lupus Cluster's past is a testament to the will of the Emperor and that even without his direct guidance, the inhabitants lived a life free of taint and Heresy. They wish to teach the people of the sector to embrace their freedom and use it in the service of the Emperor, melding the old apostate ways with proper Ecclisiarchal doctrine. Inquisitor Itzakh Hayt and Inquisitor Dame Enola Impater are among the leaders of this cabal.
Trynarchics
The Trynarchic Cabal of the Ordo Hereticus believes that the apostate past is best forgotten and should be purged from the history books of the sector lest it encourage the locals to rise up against the Emperor and imperil their souls. The Trynarchic Cabal is responsible for most of the changes in the Sector, and prides themselves on adherence to Doctrine and Dogma of the Adeptus Terra. Inquisitor Aldus Kilgour is the leader of the Trynarchics, though it is rumoured that Ezekiel DuMorne may be the power behind this group.
The Beaticants
Like the Trynarchics, the Beaticants believe that the Sector's past is somewhat shameful, however they do not go so far as outlawing anything relating to it. Instead, the Beaticants teach a philosophy of learning from the errors of the apostate past to prevent recurrances. Mocked by their brothers and sisters as being the 'softer side' of the Inquisition, the Beaticants never-the-less have the full support of the Adepta Sororitas' Cannoness Superia Indomita Akutagawa and such men as Lord Inquisitor Pavius Terix.
The Triumvirate
Within the Orders of the Inquisition in the Lupus Cluster, there is a group of three who have existed since the time of Gyorg Shannedam. These three, one member for each Order, were tasked with the keeping of a great secret and given special tools with which to work. The greatest of these tools were the three sister-ships placed at the disposal of the Inquisition. These ships were known as the Furies and are named Tisiphone, Megarea, and Alecto.
The Tisiphone, as you are aware, is the flagship of Inquisitor Pavius Terix of the Ordo Hereticus. The Tisiphone Has oft been seen throughout the sector, its fighters and troops securing worlds and allegiances more surely than even entire fleets and dozens of regiments could manage. Much of the local Navy subordinates itself to the master of the Tisiphone, and with good reason. Though it has seldom been used, the ancient battleship has powers fueled by sanctioned psykers that can reduce defenses to smoldering slag and rain down the wroth of the Emperor on his enemies.
The Megarea is the flagship of the Ordo Malleus and is commanded by Inquisitor Anastasia Mandragorin. It is alleged to have been lost for nearly 25 years in the Immaterium, and upon its return stopped briefly at Ve'Fros to transmit a cryptic message that said, "The Emperor's beacon will gutter and fail, we must all be on our guard for the descent into damnation shall surely follow!" This statement has been considered to be treasonous and heretical and thus Inquisitor Mandragorin is considered a rogue Inquisitor and has had the death sentence placed upon her by the Ordo Administratum which oversees justice amongst the larger orders of the Inquisition. In spite of this, Anastasia Mandragorin has fought the forces of Chaos wherever she can throughout the Lupus Cluster. Usually popping up right before a major Warp breach to prevent the emergence of major demons and representatives of the ruinous powers. It is for this reason alone that the writ of execution against her has not been as forcefully applied as it may otherwise have been.
The Alecto is the flagship of the Ordo Xenos and is commanded by Inquisitor Lord Ezekiel duMorne. Inquisitor duMorne is a strange man to be sure, and many consider his appearance to be the result of some strain of mutation, though he does not share all of the traits of a true abhuman. While he appears to be of the race known colloquially as Squats, he has a fully human mother and father. His deformed appearance have lead to a great deal of speculation, however his ability to crush xenos has caused his more extreme physical abnormalities to be ignored. Wasting his quite valuable talents would be criminal, especially since one could quite easily point to him as being the main reason that there are not more Xenos in the sector. Currently, the Inquisitor is overseeing the extermination of the Ork population in the Ope'diar system, however there are rumors that a darker enemy may be stirring deeper in Shannedam County, and he may be called upon to deal with that directly.
Each of the three is said to contain a portion of the great secret that the Triumvirate is alleged to guard, and the dictates of these three are far more important than one would normally assume.

From the Journals of Josiah Marioc
029.647, M41
It seems to me that while my allies may be strong and powerful forces for the betterment of Humanity in the Emperor's name, perhaps it is best if I continue hiding in our quarters and not draw too much attention to myself. I shall endeavour to explain my meaning:
Following the disastrous transit from Immaterial to Material space, my companions, along with the ship's Purser, Salvio Brontus, proceeded over to the derelict wreckage of the Commonwealth Battleship Avenger. Taking two Techpriest Explorators up to the bridge of the Avenger, Cromwell, Onan, and Paziel dispatched the remainder of the salvage crew to attempt to obtain rations and other items that would help should we be stuck in this area of space over-long. What happened next, I can scarcely believe!
Apparently, the ship's intelligence engine was operating on the bridge, even after all this time. It attempted to bargain with my colleagues, but they managed to out-smart the machine, and wrest some control back from the infernal device. Not only were they able to obtain navigational aids from the ship, but they also were able to determine the best areas for resupply, as well as Commonwealth munitions.
Among the haul were Commonwealth Mauler pistols, and quite a bit of ammo. My data indicates that the Mauler was a sidearm adapted from Imperial tech, and was renown for its stopping power in boarding actions, as well as the fearsome roar that can shake a man in his shoes, and allegedly caused many Imperial ratings to abandon their posts in terror at the volume of the report. Another weapon that they retrieved was a Commonwealth Flechette pistol, with a few sets of ammunition. These wicked little weapons could literally shred unarmored men like so much cattle.
Within hours of our party returning from the Avenger, the Purser approached my compatriots with tales that Captain Trumbull was attempting to delay departure from the system for reasons unknown. I proceeded to compile the necessary paperwork to relieve the Captain from duty and we patiently awaited the time when we suspected the Captain would have the final course solutions from the Navigators. We attempted to relieve the Captain, and he, the Executive Officer, and the ship's Tactical Officer opened fire on us! While I hid behind Onan, Paziel, and Cromwell, the battle raged around the bridge. Eventually, the Captain and Tactical Officer lay dead and the XO was captured and placed in the brig.
Interrogation of the XO proved fruitful, and we learned that the Captain had obtained some secret information on the Avenger from his contacts in House Wulfe. Apparently, the reason for the delay in leaving the area near the Avenger was due to there being another salvage team on the Battleship! This was dreadful news, but sadly there was little we could do about it. The Captain sought to make a fortune learning from the prize he hoped to obtain on the Avenger, and the entire 'breakdown' had apparently been staged in order to get rid of those crewmen who had not sworn loyalty to him and his plan.
A thorough search of the Captain, XO, and Tactical Officer's quarters revealed that the Captain had a family, and that he had a good amount of information from House Wulfe in his possession. The XO had several devices secreted away in his belongings, but their origins are thus far unknown.

Hey Gang,
Just wanted to get ahead of the posts a bit and remind everyone that the next session is this Thursday. All are welcome, and new players can get in on the action as well. I should be at the store early due to the fact that I have a Wake to go to from 2p to 4p, and I expect to arrive at the store around 5-5:30p. Anyone wishing to create a character, should try to get in early and see me, or send me a private message with a character concept and I will throw something together for you.
See you Thursday!

Thank you I know that I posted a heck of a lot of information over the past week, and it may take some time to digest. If you see references that make no sense, or contradict themselves, let me know as there might be information in there from an earlier campaign which may not be correct/relevant to your campaign...

Well, it has certainly been an interesting few days here in the Pisae system. Actually, I suppose that is an incorrect statement considering that the day here is 44.2 Standard Hours long. Let me start, then back on the Alacrity, which vessel's timekeeping is fairly routine.
Paziel, Onan, Cromwell, and I met with Captain Salvio Brontus, who indicated that one of the Tech Priests who had accompanied my colleagues on the trip to the Commonwealth Battleship Avenger was requesting to join our little band on its journey to Pisae. As we had a desperate need of properly educated technicians, it was decided forthwith to include him in our numbers. Luckily for us, it turns out that he was more than willing to shoulder the burdens of the Inquisition and become a member of Inquisitor Terix's innumerable Acolytes. As I have administrative access on behalf of the Inquisitor Lord, I inducted Technographer Stig Tybalt into the Inquisition and provided him with his Rosette.
Next we were faced with a difficult question: Should we announce our presence to Baroness von Tropp's government and arrive at the primary spaceport at Paka with pomp and circumstance or should we attempt to arrive 'under the auger' as Onan would say. It was determined by Cromwell that the most tactical option would be to go in unannounced with one of the Press-Gang Shuttles that Captain Brontus was dispatching in order to replenish the diminished crew of the fast packet Alacrity. We dashed to the hangar deck just in time to hitch a ride on the first of the Arvus Landers heading to the surface, and the small city of Flour.
On the way to the surface I studied up on the city, which was razed during the initial attack on Pisae. Flour was the former planetary capital, and when the elements of the Crusade under Admiral Spartavalcus blasted the city and demanded the surrender of the planet, compliance was rapid. Although under Empire control for over two millennia, Flour has only recently started rebuilding itself. The devastation from the attack is writ large across the landscape, and the approach into the city over the Sea of Regrets showed us a bustle of activity.
Upon arrival, the press-gangs went immediately to work rounding up folks who did not escape into the city quickly enough. While the gang from the ship made themselves increasingly unpopular, Onan espied an inn near the landing area called the Baroness' Pride. The inn seemed fairly seedy, though moderately well maintained. Technographer Tybalt was immediately entranced by a number of odd and ancient looking devices. Activating one of them, he quickly determined that the devices were Commonwealth-era Cognizance Engines used in Planetary Civil Defense. It is likely that these were salvaged from the nearby wreckage of the Governmental Center.
His fingers flying across the console, Stig quickly discovered a Mag-Lev System that connects the old Commonwealth settlements and would allow us to transit directly from Flour to Paka. While Stig was working his technical wizardry, Onan had discovered a few useful data points: 1) Eustace Thoreson, the representative of the influential and powerful Thoreson Clan had recently arrived at Paka and was negotiating with Baroness von Tropp. Rumours indicate that a marriage may be in the offing. 2) A large number of previously undocumented population has been living in the nearby mountains, and does not seem to be aware of the events of the last two-thousand years. It is as though the refugees from the fall of Flour have been up in the hills and never came down after the end of the Crusade. 3) A number of indigents have disappeared from the lakeside areas. This could be due to death from cold, death from squatting in derelict buildings, or some sinister abduction scenario.
At this point, Paziel noted a group of locals watching Stig. We quietly came up with a plan, which called for Cromwell and Stig to leave the inn, while Paziel, Onan, and I watched the watchers. It was all terribly exciting and very 'cloak and dagger', as Paziel would say. The leader, who was wearing an antique noble's uniform, motioned for one of the locals to follow him, while the other remained at the inn, watching Onan.
As it transpired, the fellows meant us no harm. This was all for the best, as I was in no great hurry to duke it out with unknown enemies. The gentleman in the antique outfit turned out to be Emil Brax LVII! A most impressive scion of a most impressive family as I have ever met. I made certain to copy every word from our dialog with this worthy for posterity, as who knows how important this will all be deemed in the centuries ahead.
Lord Brax took us to his manse on the outskirts of town, and explained to us his interest in Technographer Tybalt. The Brax family fortunes were at an ebb, and Emil was hopeful that he might revitalize those fortunes with the exploitation of a Promethium well deep in the mountains nearby. The problem was that he was hoping to find the exact location of the wells, and really needed assistance with that, as well as with security on the trek into the mountains, especially if rebels and heretics were infesting the region. We struck an accord with the fellow and then spent the night at his home.
In the middle of the night, we were awakened and advised that the evenings, which during the winter months in Flour last 28 hours, it is customary to awaken at local midnight and do minor work around the home throughout the next ten hours, then sleep and awaken with the dawn. We decided, at the insistence of Paziel, to adjourn to the city and acquire cold weather clothing and provide Lord Brax with his desired maps. We then spent the evening in one of the derelict buildings, picked out by Stig.
In the morning we attempted to enter the former Governmental Center of Flour, only to find it guarded by gang members calling themselves Gubers! It was obvious that they had taken the name of the building (Gubernatorial Mansion) which had been partially slagged by lance fire. While amusing, these juveniles were armed and dangerous, so we attempted to infiltrate at one of the other gaps in the wall, where only one dim-witted juve was on guard.
We, and by we I mean Paziel, Onan, Stig, and Cromwell, as I determined to encode and enscribe the adventure remotely by transcribing the Vox transmissions from the rest of the team, entered the dark facility, and Onan lost his footing and plummeted over the edge and into the first sub-basement. Slowly and cautiously my companions made their way through the facility, hoping to get to the Mag-Lev and determine its status. Unfortunately, they were not alone in the facility, and with Onan's injured leg, fighting off Gangers was the last thing they wanted to do...

...sadly, though, battle was unavoidable. Onan, who had managed to hear enough of the gangers' corrupted Gothic to make out what was being said, realized that the Gubers were not sure as to which level my companions had moved to, and had sent two teams in to investigate. My companions determined to ambush the team on the third sub-level and gain some time.
The battle opened with Paziel leaping out from the shadows and into the light held by the leader of the approaching gangers. Said leader turned out to be a 7 foot tall cyclopean mutant, and Paziel tried his best to lay the villain low with a brutal set of sword thrusts, slicing deep into the monster's scalp. Onan fired on the remaining gangers, sending a hail of autogun fire down the hallway while Guardsman Cromwell opened fire in support. Technographer Stig joined in the firefight, squeezing off a round from his las carbine.
Unfortunately, the gangers had a few tricks up their sleeves as well. Her eyes lighting up the darkness, the gangers' witch summoned the malefic powers of the warp and shocked Paziel into insensibility, paralyzing him with fear. The Abomination charged forward into Cromwell's gun, while the Tough and Juves hung back to protect their witch. Onan tried to fire off a pattern of autogun fire, but his untrustworthy weapon jammed! Cromwell, seeing an opportunity to finish the work Paziel started, stitched two shots into the hideous mutant's chest, the third shot flying wide and hitting one of the wounded Juves. Stig fired off a round, nailing the tough square in the leg. The witch decided to try her luck at incapacitating another of the acolytes, but her mastery of the Warp was not so firm as she believed, and suddenly horrible voices filled the echoing hallways with dark promises and terrifying threats. One of the Juves charged the unfortunate Cromwell, who dispatched him, while Onan, his gun finally cleared, fired off a barrage of full-auto fire, striking the other Juve, and Stig prepared to defend himself from the now-wounded Juve. The Witch regained her composure and attempted to compel Onan in the same manner that she had struck at Paziel, but her power was shaken by the recent failure of her powers and she was unable to affect Onan, who responded with a jaunty salute. Cromwell and Stig each took out a Juve, and Onan switch to Semi-Automatic and dealt a crucial blow to the Tough and the Witch. Paziel chose this moment to regain his senses, and he rose up to strike the Witch a knockout blow, lacerating her misshapen face and delivering a bell punch with his sword that was so forceful several of the Witch's teeth flew across the corridor. The Tough, seeing the battle was truly lost, attempted to flee and get help, but he was cut down by fire and sword before he could get very far.
In accordance with the edicts of our Order, we purged the unconscious Witch and her Ganger scum allies, throwing their bodies from the top of the damaged stairwell in the manner of the ancients.
After taking a moment to bind their wounds, the party made their way to the other end of this sub-level and descended to the fourth Sub-level. On this level, the group encounter some manner of burrowing worms, but Stig's quick thinking and use of Feedback Screech allowed the forces of the Inquisition a speedy victory, sealing the horrible beasts into the room by slamming the door shut behind them.
Making their way down to the fifth sub-level, the acolytes found a series of ten sealed shipping containers, the first of which contained Medicae kits, and the second of which contained military Vox Casters and C3 gear. I have obtained the container lot numbers for the other eight containers, and will be cross checking them against the listed port manifests when we have access to such records. After spending some time healing their wounds and using these supplies, the group moved into the transit station.
While stealth is not the strong suit of several of the members of this team, Paziel and Onan were able to sneak close enough to witness a conversation between two strange Tech-Priests and none-other than Emil Brax. Onan quickly noted that the Emil Brax in this transit station and the Emil Brax LVII that we met were subtly different, and even the uniforms that they wore were not quite identical. Apparently, this Emil Brax was working for an organization called Gold Group, and was working with hereteks calling themselves the Children of Vildix! There appears to be some relation between the two Braxes, however the nature of that relationship remains unclear at present. It was at this point that the guards noticed the rather un-stealthy Stig Tybalt, and attempted to take him prisoner...
